Gamani Power Transmission has published three Expressions of Interest for consultants to support the development of the Mbale-Bulambuli-Kween electricity transmission project in eastern Uganda.
The three assignments cover:
- A feasibility study
- An Environmental and Social Impact Assessment
- A Resettlement Action Plan
Together, these studies will help advance the development of the proposed 76km, 132kV transmission line and associated substations.
Why this project matters
Uganda is one of East Africa’s fastest-growing economies, with abundant energy potential. The country has invested heavily in generation, but half the population still lacks access to power. Electricity that is generated cannot reach homes, businesses and industries without the transmission infrastructure to carry it.
Gamani will construct the Mbale–Bulambuli–Kween transmission line in eastern Uganda, unlocking new power generation that is ready to be built but cannot connect without the grid, and powering industrial growth across the region.
