Gridworks has appointed Gilles Allard as Head of Engineering and Construction, bringing extensive international experience in the development and delivery of power transmission and distribution infrastructure.
Gilles leads the engineering and construction function across Gridworks’ portfolio, supporting the development and delivery of complex electricity infrastructure projects. His responsibilities include project governance, contracting strategy, risk management and operational readiness.
An electrical engineer with postgraduate degrees in electrical engineering and business administration, Gilles began his career at Hydro-Québec. He brings more than 34 years of experience in the power sector, including over two decades managing major energy infrastructure projects internationally, particularly in Africa. His experience spans project development, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and contract management, including projects financed by multilateral development banks.
Before joining Gridworks, Gilles worked as a consultant to the World Bank. He also previously led owner’s engineer services for the Temane transmission project in Mozambique. Gilles will be based in Gridworks’ Nairobi office.
Gilles succeeds Joe Corbett, who has led Gridworks’ technical function since 2019. Joe has played a vital role in the development of Gridworks and its portfolio of transmission and distribution projects. Joe is retiring from his full-time role but will continue with Gridworks part-time.
