Progress for Moyi Power: Project submits essential environmental and social assessments in the DRC

Essential Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) have been submitted for all three cities covered by the Moyi Power project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

ESIAs for each of the project cities were presented to the Governors of Isiro Province and Gemena Province, and to the Agence Congolaise de l’Environnement (ACE) by our AEE Power partners and local Moyi Power representatives.

Completing and submitting the assessments is an important step in the approval of the Moyi’s environmental and social impact, by both the national DRC authorities and the investors supporting the project.

When the project is completed, Moyi Power will supply solar-powered electricity to households and businesses in Isiro, Gemena and Bumba – three cities with a combined population of 700,000. None has a grid connection, and all three struggle to access reliable, affordable and clean power.

Thank you to everyone who helped get this work completed and submitted, and especially our environmental and social consulting partners, EmiAfrica and SLR Consulting Africa, who have worked with us on these assessments from the outset.
